The Worst Club in America: The Max in Omaha

If you are ever in one of the flyover states, the club you do not want to go to is The Max in Omaha, Nebraska.  GG and I were on a business trip at The Hilton, so we decided to stop in at this club to see what it was like.  Teh cover was $7.  OK whatevs!  gURL, the drag talent was subpar.  All we saw were fat, ugly hoes in raggedy clothing.  The drinks were $12 (they think they're in New York), and the DJ played "Party Rock" no less than three times within 45 minutes of stepping into the club.  We thought maybe it was Amateur Hour, but no, it was a Saturday Night!

We approached the DJ booth to see if we could liven up the party.  After requesting our girl Rihanna, the DJ gave us a dirty look and refused to play our request.  This is one club to say away from.  You'll have more fun on a Monday Morning at FUBAR than you will at The Max.  Save yourself the misery, and skip the flyover states.  They're called that for a reason!

xoxo

  8. I grew up in Nebraska and have gone there many times when I go back to visit. It's actually a very nice club when you consider the whole STATE has the same population as the San Fernando Valley. Perhaps Soju should just enjoy the place instead of trying to make it like her version of WeHo. Omaha doesn't need the attitude.

  14. There are so many things wrong with this opinion I don't know where to start. Firstly $7 is not a lot of money for a cover charge on a Saturday night. Secondly there are plenty of clubs everywhere in this world in which the DJ does not want to take requests. Your song selection sucks, get over it. Next, you cannot in ANY WAY compare the gay scene in Omaha to that in L.A. Omaha has just over 400K people in the city proper. OF COURSE it's not going to be as fabulous or as well funded as anything happening in a larger city. Another thing: people in Midwest LOVE to eat. THEY HAVE COLD WINTERS, DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE YOU VISIT!! Of course the drag queens are going to be fat! You know the root of bullying is an inner feeling of inadequacy. The person who wrote this article seems to be doing everything in his/her power to put other people down so he/she can feel better about him/herself. Lastly I am from Omaha and when I lived there I actually met a fabulous guy from Los Angeles who said the Max was comparable to anything in L.A., so know that your opinion is not held by all. Now that I live in L.A. I see that all gay clubs are pretty much the same--lots of gay people being whomever they want to be: dancers, cruisers, bears, twinks, queens, and creepers. It sounds to me that you should stop judging other people's dance clubs and open your mind a little when you travel.

  15. I loved it when we visited. The cover helps keep out the riff raff such as gaggles of annoying straight girls. The place was friendly and treated customers like real people. Perhaps WEHOcunfidential was used to being treated better than everyone else?
We returned the next afternoon for a quiet cocktail and someone bought a round of drinks for everyone at the bar.
