WeHo City Council Takes Steps to End Free Speech:

HELP!!!
WeHo is burning!

The city is on its way to becoming a police state!!!

Apparently the city manager & a majority of the council are trying to outlaw freedom of speech during the public comment portion of city council meetings after Lucas John called the city's staffers "fu(kers" while speaking against the enforcement of parking meters after 6pm & on Sundays. Soon cursing will no longer allowed during public comment time.

Lucas John claims that it was actually council member John Duran who taught him that is was okay to swear at political functions but Duran hypocritcally voted with 3 of his colleagues to ban freedom of speech.

#potkettleblack

Seriously, Lucas John used the F-word one time at city hall & now they're drafting an ordinance to "toss out" anyone who speaks too harshly. The ordinance also shows that the council & staffers are afraid of being lynched (it's 2013) as they've also proposed that protest signs may not be attached to sticks.

WeHo is starting to feel like Catholic school all over again.

We'll be consulting our attorney about suing the city & the city manager personally for violating our right to freedom of speech. We could always use an extra $2 million in the bank, okay honay!

Does Cohen vs. California ring a bell?
How about John VS. West Hollywood ?

Thank you John D'Amico for being the only council member to vote against the new ordinance.

xoxo
GG

PS-
The final draft still needs to be voted on so there is still time to call your council member & complain before the final vote.

  1. Lucas- I'd like to speak to you man to man. Why are you doing this to people? Do you really think it makes you important? you think bullying people you've never met makes you somebody? No. It makes everyone lose. You are creating enemies all over this town. To what end? It is only going to end badly for you and for what? Were you bullied when you were a kid? Did your parents not love you enough or give you enough attention?

Don't you realize that you created this site to stop bullies, but in doing so you have only become a bully yourself? You have an opportunity with this website to raise the dialogue. We don't have to tear each other down. You don't have to be mean to people that you've never even met, but if you had gotten to know you might have liked. Is this any way to live a life? When you get old, don't you want to look back and think that you had done something productive with your life rather than hurting innocent people? I know that it seems like you are getting attention, but really no one cares about you. When people think about this site or come across it, everyone just thinks it's just gross. No one thinks it's cool- it's the furthest things from cool. It's just plain ugly and nasty.

I know you can do better! Please stop trying to hurt people. Life is too short!! Peace.

    2. No, i want your explanation right out here in the open. I'm not about to let you know who I am so that you can try to tear me down too on this site. I've seen what you have done to my friend and I feel really bad for him. He didn't deserve it and you never even met him. He's never hurt anybody and wouldn't but you did real damage to him in his life. I'm just trying to understand why and let you know that this website is hurting innocent people. Please have a heart and stop doing it.

  2. So much for speaking man to man. Did you read your own comment before you posted it? You're upset about a friend. Okay which friend?

  5. The "friend" is irrelevant. The writer makes brilliant points. You've got issues.

  6. Using obscenities and calling elected officials fuckers at a government meeting doesn't fall under the 1st ammendment. But you wouldn't know that because you're clearly no journalist nor do you have an education, class or decency.

  7. Gurls, calm down. Sometimes when we are angry and emotional towards something we believe in/ are fighting for, bad words can come out. Who cares? It's just a word... Yea Lucas isn't perfect but who the hell is? And btw, most of the post on this blog are coming from anonymous writers not lucas...

This one is clearly from him.

  8. Using profanity in a public forum is childish and inappropriate. It only speaks to a lack of self respect and lack of self control. It displays an inability to articulately convey one's message and diminishes one's credibility in the eyes of the very people the person is attempting to convince. Grow up and behave like a responsible man or resign yourself to the marginal world of porn, drug and alcohol abuse, nightclubs, gossip and defamatory conjecture which you seem to find so gratifying.

  11. God just because someone used the world fuck???? Honestly, the points being made by LJ in regards to parking were actually nicely stated but the minds of many were turned off by one word. Everyone should just evolve, overlook the curse words, and focus on the actual statements and opinions brought to the floor.

  12. He didn't simply use the word fuck as a verb or as an exclamation, he referred the the city council members as "you fuckers". That's name calling. Not a great way to earn respect or engender credibility. It's kindergarten 101; no name calling, wait your turn, don't throw things etc.
