Sayonara: Council Votes to End Free Parking in WeHo

May Madonna bless Council Member John D'Amico's heart. He was the only one to vote against charging for parking meters on Sunday & after 6pm. That's right WeHo, you can officially kiss your free parking good bye.

This is not an April Fools joke.

  5. People move here because they are gay, want to be with similar, and don't want to feel awkward living our lives... .Most of us sacrifice living beyond our means just to do so and THIS is how city council FUCKS US IN THE ASS????? Fuck them.

  8. In case you haven't noticed, Weho is a city for the rich. If you want a nice and clean city, you have to pay for it. Urban utopias don't come cheap!

    1. I don't know where you're from, but if you think Weho is nice and clean, you need to travel a little more.

    2. I've lived in many places around the country but I only need to travel to Hollywood to prove my point. Oh, and like that new shiny library? Yeah, it cost money. The pride festival and gay and lesbian center, both subsidized by the city? Yeah, that costs money. I'm not at all rice, but I understand that living amongst the rich and famous means I need to pay to play. If you are concerned over paying a few dollars to park, you should be living somewhere economical in the valley.

    3. If you're impressed by a library and gay pride festival, then you really do need to see more of the world.

    4. Again you suggest I travel the world? Are you a travel agent?? My point is we have nice things compared to 99% of the other cities in this county. Nice things cost money. It doesn't matter if I'm impressed or not by the library, the fact is it exists and it cost millions of dollars. You need to have revenues to cover expenses.

    5. This is just silly! I guarantee local businesses will suffer as a result, visitors who don't live in WeHo will be calling it an early night which means less money spent at the bars and restaurants. Way to go city council! At least you're pretty, wait no you're not! GTFO!

    6. Local businesses don't give a shit about the cheapskates who are worried about paying for parking. They care about the people who valet their cars or use the parking structure aka the people who actually spend real money.

    7. West Hollywood's budget is not in the red, nor has it been in like... forever. If it were, I could understand a move like this, but it's not. This is flat out greed, and robbery, in my opinion. Where else in L.A do you pay $.25/ 10 minutes of parking, and have to pay that AFTER 6 p.m?

  9. How will you ever pay for your drugs now? You queens are being treated like second class citizens. Sue now!!!

  10. This bitch... go anywhere else in the city, including Brentwood and Beverly Hills, and you'll find free Sunday evening parking. WeHo is supposed to be welcoming and this only makes the place more undesirable to travel to.

    1. Welcoming? To whom? Maybe that's the point, to keep people out? Kind of like how BH is fighting a subway stop because it wants to keep undesireables out. Who do you think the city of weho cares about more -- the rich residents whose property taxes fund the city, or visitors so cheap they bitch about paying a few dollars to park. Yeah.

    2. Sorry, but the majority of "rich residents" are geriatrics who bought their little one bedroom in 1965 and pay a fraction of property tax that the wealthy in Beverly Hills, Brentwood or Santa Monica pay. The city generates the bulk of its revenue from parking enforcement.

    3. HA! The bulk of the city's revenue is from parking??? You've got to be kidding. A quick look at the annual report on the weho city website shows tax revenue $44 million, fines (including parking) at $9 million. Would love to know where you learned the definition of the word "bulk."

    4. Oh, and charges for services (parking) at $2 million. The bulk... lol

  11. who's the fucking troll who seems to be so for charging for parking?

the city's parking revenue vs. tax revenue at a 1/4 ratio? that's ludicrous compared to revenue from other cities, including los angeles? Also, a city manager at $300,000 a year? - to manage a small area within west hollywood and his various parking henchman at 120K, 100K and 98K... these people on the council, minus d'amico need to go.
