I'm a Go-Go Dancer at a few WeHo nightclubs, and my main method of transportation to/from the bars at night in order to avoid parking in the area at night, but this morning my bike was stolen from inside my apartment and I could use any help to be on the look out! If this gets posted and my bike gets returned to me I will be so beyond grateful.
I live off of Santa Monica Boulevard and Fairfax, and at about 8:30 this morning I was preparing my meals for the day in my kitchen and the front door to my enclosed apartment patio opened. We normally keep the door locked, but since we were waiting for the handyman to fix out washing machine this morning and because I had been up since 7 running to the gym and getting ready for work, the door was unlocked. That's when an African-American man, about 6 foot/6'1", 145/150 lbs, blue shirt, faded creamsicle orange shorts, curly black hair kind of in an afro, and wearing what looked like a Nike/Adidas string backpack walked in to the patio. For a split second I thought it was the handyman (since our living room doors are class and we have a bay window looking out onto the patio so the entire area is exposed), but when he picked up my bike immediately and left the area, I chased after him as he rode off south on Stanley towards Beverly Boulevard. The bike is a 26 inch Schwinn Beach Cruiser, Cherry Red and VERY distinct.
Like I said, this bike has been my main method of transport at nights to/from the bar, and will cost a few hundred dollars to replace. I have filed a police report and the LAPD is on the look out, but the more eyes on this the better. If anybody sees this bike or the man who stole it, please contact the West Hollywood sheriff's department IMMEDIATELY.
