Earlier this year, the City of West Hollywood raised parking meter rates from $1.00 to $1.50 per hour--and many of you let me know exactly what you felt about it. Now, the City is considering extending the hours of operation for the parking meters, and you have a chance to weigh in.
Hoping to raise at least $1 million in new revenues, the City is proposing the following changes:
- Extend meter operations from 6 PM to 2 AM on meters West of Fairfax
- Extend meter operations from 6 PM to 10 PM on meters East of Fairfax
- Add Sunday meter enforcement between 11 AM and 8 PM citywide
Personally, this is the kind of money-grab that is unwise during an economic downturn but which is necessitated by the excesses of a City Hall where spending is out-of-control. West Hollywood residents and visitors should not be on the hook for six-figure salaries and Soho House lunches. For more info contact firstname.lastname@example.org !!
