#WeHo City Council Meeting Updates: 05.07.12

There were 3 items on the agenda that we found of particular interest:

1) After years of opposition from neighbors & lots of compromise from the developer the proposed Walgreen's shopping center located at the SW corner of Crescent Heights & Santa Monica Blvd. has  received its final approval from council after winning a failed appeal brought forward by neighborhood activists.

2) Council member D'Amico (voted #1 by our readers) proposed that the city make Robertson Blvd., a pedestrian only street on Saturday nights. The item was sponsored by our new Mayor Jeff Prang however council members Land, Heilman & Duran voted against the idea. We think they should've at least given the idea a chance.

3) Council approved The Rainbow Key Awards agenda item which honors members of the community for their lifelong commitment to LGBT causes. The item was passed unanimously & the task force is led by co-chairs from the Lesbian & Gay Advisory Board members Ivy Bottini & Lucas John.

PS - The council has yet to assemble a taskforce for the WeHo Trolley 6 months after approving the item. #LAME
